"Strategy"
Longman Dictionary explains:
  1. the skill of planning in advance the movements of armies or equipment in a war
  2. a well-planned series of actions for achieving an aim, especially against an opponent
  3. skillful planning in general: the need to focus on strategy for the entire company
"The Art of War"
Doing business, in whatever form, is much like waging a war. You need a strategy. Fighting the competition, overcoming obstacles of bureaucracy and restrictions, avoiding being ripped off by partners or third parties. Sun Tzu (some 25 centuries ago) has more on the subject in his book, "The Art of War."
"Let's Go To China"

How to find your way in the crowd?
To survive and attain goals of profitability in the Chinese market, a company needs serious preparation work and strategic thinking. Unfortunately waves of foreign businessmen, jump blindly into the China market and get badly hurt. Most of the existing foreign invested enterprises do not make a profit and many are plagued by serious problems. The unhappy ones tend to hide their headaches for obvious reasons. The ones that leave are swiftly replaced by others who commit the same mistakes again. Losses can be devastating, especially for small and medium enterprises.
China is not much different from other countries.  "Easy" markets don't exist.   Who would rush over to Belgium to set up a multimillion dollar venture without due preparation? Without analyzing the best approach and checking out the potential partner?
Many foreign companies are very successful in China, selling their products or services to the domestic market, manufacturing for export.

Succeeding in China is possible.

The definition and implementation of a strategy is ideally worked out in close cooperation with the client and mostly in reiterative steps as to find a suitable middle ground between the theoretical goals and realities of the Chinese business environment. When? For new or existing operations, investments, key projects. We suggest to continue working with the client to implement the strategy - as doers we like to deliver more than just paper and words.
