Gilbert VAN KERCKHOVE

Managing Director

Gilbert's relation with the Chinese market started in late 1980 and in 1981 he became the first commercial Belgian resident in Beijing. He has lived in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong for over 15 years. With a background of Master of Science in Electronic Engineering (University of Ghent, Belgium) he has extensive experience in telecommunications, rail transport, power generation and industry as well as international business. He also worked in Brazil, Spain, Nigeria, Indochina and Myanmar (Burma) in the areas of telecommunications (ALCATEL and SIEMENS), Liquefied Petroleum Gas, Polyester manufacturing and electronics for the textile industry.

In his four year period as Director East China for ALSTOM in Shanghai he obtained US$ 700 million of innovative contracts (metroline, power plants, industry). He received the prestigious "Magnolia Silver Award" from the Shanghai Government in 1999 for his "valuable support to the City's development." He was the President of the Belgian Luxembourg Business Association in Shanghai from 1997 to 1999. Magnolia

He is a Belgian national and speaks English, Dutch, French, German, Portuguese, regular Spanish and basic Chinese.
He is also the President of China Strategy Ltd.

Born in Beijing and from a very prestigious Chinese family, she studied biology before managing her trading company in Hong Kong and traveling in Southeast Asia for business between China and Asian countries. In the mid 80's she started working with G. Van Kerckhove. Ms. Sun has been deeply involved in liaison work with the Chinese Administration and has gained a vast experience. Her contacts with the Central Authorities, the Municipal Governments of Beijing and Shanghai, as well as several Provinces were instrumental in building a consensus between Chinese and foreign parties. She is a founding member of the "Beijing International Investment Promotion Council". She also worked for ALCATEL and ALSTOM in the areas of Public Relations and Government Liaison. She has the Belgian nationality and has traveled extensively around the world for a variety of businesses.

Her responsibilities include:

• promoting cooperation between Chinese and foreign business enterprises in analyzing the feasibility of the projects;
• developing short-term, medium-term and long-term plans for the foreign enterprises to maintain and improve their relationship with the Chinese Government and coordinate day to day activities for continued and improved communication;
• providing government policies and information to foreign enterprises to help them in their decision-making;
• developing strategies for enterprises and creating new business opportunities.
