26 July 2001 - Beijing Vice Mayor invites foreign business delegates to celebrate Beijing's selection

On 26 July 2001 Beijing Vice Mayor Mr. Zhang Mao invited senior representatives of the foreign business community for a lunch at the Beijing International Hotel.
The lunch was organized through BFISC, represented by Mr. Sun Changtai, director, and Mr. G. Van Kerckhove, Advisor.

Mr. Wang Wei, Secretary General of BOCOG as well as other leaders of the Beijing Municipality also joined the lunch.The foreign business community was represented by representatives of the major foreign chambers of commerce and senior executives from several multinational companies.

The lunch was organized by Mr. Zhang Mao to celebrate the selection of Beijing for the 2008 Olympics and to ask the foreign business community for advice and comments on how Beijing could prepare itself to achieve a successful Olympics.

The foreign guests gave valuable suggestions and some of the ideas were clearly incorporated in the planning of the Beijing Municipality. G. Van Kerckhove also gave a short (written) report with suggestions.
